Much has changed on our Student Life team, and we want to (re) introduce ourselves!
After serving as Interim Dean of Students since March, Kristy McGarvey stepped into the role of Dean of Students on July 1st. She provides strategic oversight to the Student Life team and institutional leadership in the areas of student life, care, and engagement. She also serves as the point of contact for all Title IX student concerns. She received her MA in Intercultural Studies from Wheaton College Graduate School and her MDiv from Fuller Seminary and worked in higher education and student development for 15 years before starting at Denver Seminary in July 2019. Please feel free to send her an email if you would like to connect!
Tessa Thompson, who previously served as the Student Life Coordinator has stepped into the new role of Associate Director of Student Engagement, where she brings her innovation and warm and insightful presence to provide leadership for the signature programs and priorities of the Student Life office that impact student culture, oversee the development of our student leadership teams and manage the implementation of signature programs such as New Student Orientation and all campus events. Most recently, she spearheaded a monumental effort to plan and implement a newly designed New Student Orientation in the time of COVID! She received her Master’s from Talbot Seminary in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care and has been at Denver Seminary since June 2019. Feel free to email her if you are interested in participating in events or want to connect with our student leadership!
Gabriel Pfeiffer has stepped into the newly redesigned role of Student Life Coordinator in August 2020. A graduate from the MA In Counseling program here at Denver Seminary this spring, Gabe knows what it is like to be in your shoes and can be an encouragement to you as you journey through your seminary experience! Gabe brings a creative eye, a heart to listen well to others and a willingness to jump in to all the random tasks that Student Life brings! Gabe will serve as administrative support for the Dean of Students, work alongside Tessa on event planning and implementation, and be the point of contact for Campus News and our Student Life website! Please feel free to email him with questions.
Arielle Sigler has just recently accepted the new position of Student Care Specialist, where she will work closely with the Dean of Students to support students with their emotional needs, crisis intervention, and spiritual care and facilitate the academic accommodations process. She, too, recently graduated from our MA in Counseling program and has a heart to walk alongside students as they navigate the Seminary experience. Please join me in welcoming Arielle when she starts on August 31st and feel free to reach out to her if you need support.
